E - like E in "met"
I - like I in "hit"
O - like O in "loss"
U - like U in "put"
Á - like A in "father"
É - like AY in "day"
Í - like I in "machine"
Ó - like O in "for"
Ú - like U in "rude"
Y - like Y in "family"
AE - like E in "met"
EI - like EI in "reign"
CE - like E in "met"
AU - like OU in "mouse" (AH-oo)
C - like CH in "cherry"
CC - like TCH in "matching"
SC - like SH in "ship"
G - like G in "gentle"
Hidden text
TH - like T in "thyme"
GN - like NY in "canyon"
CH - like K in "Christ"
X - After an E or followed by a vowel,
sounds like GS, as in "exam".
Followed by a
consonant, or at the end
of a word, sounds like KS, as in "tax"
R - slightly roll it, almost like a Scottish R sound
V - makes the same sound as English V
H - silent except for two words (nihil & mihi)
J - like Y in "young"
Z - pronounced like "ds"
Two syllables - Accent the first syllable.
Three or more syllables - If the next-to-last
syllable has a long vowel sound, accent that syllable,
if the next to the last syllable has a short vowel sound,
accent the syllable before it.
